Adam's passion for complex wines led him home.

It's hard not to get swept up in Adam's passion for the Grampians. It's more than his birthplace, it's where he chose to return, put down roots, create SubRosa wine and raise a family, with Nancy. He believes the Grampians and the Pyrenees deserve recognition as great wine regions of the world, and it's his mission to share this belief with others by producing wines of exceptional quality and value.

The Grampians is renowned for producing cool climate wines.

What makes this region so special? Blessed with a cool climate, high altitude, diverse soils and reliable water sources, it's nature that creates the ideal conditions for slow grape ripening, resulting in wines that are balanced in flavour, acidity and full of complex character. After decades of winemaking in some of the world's best wine regions including Bordeaux (France) and Napa Valley (USA), it was the opportunity to create wines that could express their terroir that inspired Adam to return home for his 30th vintage. From the uniqueness of the Grampians, the story of SubRosa begins...

Intuitive winemaking is our difference.

Intuitive winemaking is our difference

Adam's approach is best explained as intuitive winemaking. Decades of experience has taught him how to rely on his senses, adapting to the changing conditions each vintage presents. In this way he captures the natural qualities of the grapes, gently inviting them to express their individual characteristics.

Our wines are for sharing and pairing

SubRosa wine originated from our desire to bring people together. Opening a bottle of wine, pairing a glass with food, sparks these shared experiences that bring joy to our everyday lives. In the spirit of sharing, we offer some ideas from our food and wine pairing adventures.
