Small, very lo-fi producer out of Central Victoria, a shed, some old barrels and flexi-tanks, couple of tonnes of fruit for each wine. Lovely family duo of Nancy Panter and Adam Louder. Panter and Louder sound like the neighbours you don’t want, but these are genuine, lovely humans so there’ll be no issue. This viognier is all from the Pyrenees, and I believe from Blue Pyrenees estate vineyards. Louder says “I was trying to make a well structured viognier.  It gets six months on lees, gets stirred, hangs out with some oak staves”.

Spicy scents, whiff of almond, apricot, but stone fruit is not the main deal. It’s a pleasing, complex scent. Hits the palate with rocket of acidity set amongst some crunch and juiciness. Unusual for viognier, offering chomp and refreshment with plenty of architecture. Not an oily, slippery mess. Good nut kernel savouriness to finish too. Good gear.
